Wondering what to eat on the drive from Chengdu to Leshan or Mount Emei? Gongyi Town is right on the route — about 1 hour out of Chengdu. Weigh up some fresh-braised food, vacuum-pack it, and get back on the road. Far better than service-station snacks.
Gongyi Town sits due south of Chengdu, right on the road toward Meishan, Leshan and Mount Emei: the Chengdu–Leshan Expressway (G0512) passes about 2 km east of town, and Provincial Road S104 (Gongye Avenue) runs straight through it. From downtown Chengdu to our shop it's about 55 km, roughly a 1-hour drive — buy your food, hop back on the expressway nearby, and keep going.
The two signatures: Liangban Pork (fresh-boiled, sliced to order, dressed in chili oil — great with rice or drinks) and Sweet-Skin Duck (braised, then fried: crisp skin with a gentle sweetness). Both vacuum-pack neatly — open them in the car, or carry them on to Leshan and Emeishan. For variety, add a braised platter, chicken feet, or the vegetarian braise.
On the way out, mornings are best — the day's braise is at its fullest, and buying early means lunch on the road is sorted. If you're rushing outward, swing by on the return in the evening instead — but the popular items sometimes run low by afternoon, so call ahead: 028-37677865, and we'll hold yours.
On even-numbered calendar dates (2nd, 4th, 6th…) the town holds its traditional market — the old street bustles with farm produce, seasonal fruit and snack stalls. If your timing lines up, allow an extra half hour to wander.
The Jiangkou Sunken Silver Museum is about 13 km from our shop (opened early 2026 — Zhang Xianzhong's sunken treasure on display); Huanglongxi Ancient Town is about 21 km away. Pick one on the way out or back, and the day fills out perfectly.
